Roku Netflix Player

Roku Netflix Player

If you've been paying attention to this 'Internet' thing at all, you've probably heard of Netflix, the ubiquitous online DVD rental by mail service. Last year, the forward-thinking folks at Netflix created a "Watch it Now" function that allowed subscribers to instantly view a portion of its extensive library (roughly 10,000 of its 100,000 movies and shows) on their PCs. While it's been well-received, sitting hunched over your computer is not the ideal way to watch a romantic comedy. Enter the Netflix Player, which allows you to free those movies from the confines of your PC and watch them on your TV. The design is minimal--it's smaller than a Wii, while it's remote has a scant five buttons and a four-way directional pad to navigate its sparse menus. There's a video output for everyone, from composite to HDMI, and the player allows for a wired or wireless Internet connection to stream the movies; the quality is, surprisingly, almost as good as DVDs. Our only qualms thus far are the lack of HD content, and the surprisingly large amount of movies that play in 4:3 aspect ratio but those will probably be remedied in due time through a firmware update. If you subscribe to Netflix, then you definitely should get one right away; what else are you going to do while waiting for the next movie to arrive in the mail?

Sony makes some amazing HDTV's ZanonX, but definitely shop around. You can find some great bargains. Vizio is a brand to keep an eye on as well.

SerbianPoppa

its all about Panasonic and Pioneer Plasma's. Atleast that's what I figured when I researched which were the best HDTV's out there. Now im rollin with a 1080p 42" Veira which isnt only great for video games but pwns when it comes to sports since it comes with 480hz. BAM

Look at the new Samsung LCD models, beautiful picture, one of the best I've seen. 50,000 to 1 contrast and 120hrz great response time for fast moving games (to reduce blurring).

iFrogz Audiowrapz intrigue me the most, but a little searching revealed to me that they don't make a similar product for the Zune. I don't need a plain silicone cover today, but one with built in speakers would be a sure buy for me.

Darkstorn

Hahaha. Major LOLZ at the Pen Spinning ad. I love the heavy metal soundtrack...
