Just plain fun
Epic boss fights

This game suceeds in all expectations. Online is great, single player is great, and the graphics are also great. But the game was shorter then RFOM and their are some graphical problems but other than that its great. The boss fights also are epic. But still i expected a bit more since it was so hyped about.

Falls short of the hype

Pros Cons
Tight controls Poor storytelling
Loads of content Doesn't live up to expectations
Intense action Ugly visuals

As a hardcore RFOM fan i was really excited about this game. However now i feel dissapointed. I'll start with the single player. The campaign mode in this game is a huge downgrade from the original. The graphics, enemy AI, storytelling, and even the audio are worse this time. The Chimera used to be very intimidating and cunning but now they look so puny and they dont even sound threatening. Also, instead of challenging the player with intelligent enemies who actually try to flank you and outmanuver you like the original, this game is just hard becuase the enemies do incredible amounts of damage. You would think this is balanced out by the rehcargeable health (Halo but its not. Also, the new two weapon limit completely KILLED the feel of the game and made it a bit too much like Halo. The storytelling actually felt better with the old narration from the old game, and the campaign is like half of the original's campaign. The coop is pretty good though, its definetly the best part of the game...its intense and fun, its a fine mix of strategy and firepower. The competitive is fun, but its also a downgrade from the original. 60 player games is unnecessary because most of the game you play won't even have forty players...they really should have just kept the 40 player limit from the first game. The gameplay feels more fast paced then before, but that's not really a good thing in this case, and the RPG-like character organization doesn't help the game much. All in all, the game's main problem is its size. The huge bosses in the game and the 60 player online are completely unnecessary and don't help the game much. Better graphics, storytelling, and a longer campaign would have been much more beneficial. Nonetheless, this is still a great and fun game...its just not as great as the first and it fails to live up to most of its hype.

This game is the best Alien action game thus far for the PS3!

Pros Cons
Just plain fun
Epic boss fights
Intense action
Tight controls

Well this game seems to be compared a lot to Gears of War 2 for the Xbox360. Let me tell you that both games have their highlights and differ and gameplay and graphics. Both games are fun to play and the graphics are just as good.

I would say the only con I have for Resistance 2 is that it wasn't 1080p which would have been a little cooler, but doesn't really take away anything.

Resistance 2 has a lot of big boss battles and a ton of action, I definetly like the switch between action and suspense moments. I love this game and Gears of War 2. Both games are in my inventory. One day I play Gears with my family and friends and another day Resistance. I love the variety. I am glad they made both games. If you are lucky like me to have both systems, don't miss out on any of them.

p.s. The monsters are really cool looking, now that's how aliens are supposed to look like, unlike Halos aliens.

RFOM2 equals GOW2

Pros Cons
Addictive gameplay
Tight controls
Innovative concepts
Fantastic multiplayer
Epic boss fights
Amazing visuals
Intense action

I never played RFOM, so I don't know how much it copied it, so I think of this as a new game. The graphics are amazing, a much better improvement from the video I saw of the first one. The guns are extremely innovative, like the auger that can shoot through walls, the bullseye that can target an enemy and shoot trough walls, and the small magnum can explode its bullets. The gameplay is great, and the multiplayer is really fun. Co-op is as awesome as competitive, which is usually hard to do in a game. Overall, this game goes with the categories of MGS4, LBP, Bioshock, Fallout 3, and GTA 4 as games that must be bought for your PS3 now!

Great Multiplayer, Questionable Singleplayer

Pros Cons
Tight controls Ugly visuals
Addictive gameplay Braindead computer AI
Fantastic multiplayer
Epic boss fights
Intense action

This game is for those folks looking for a GREAT multiplayer experience. 30 v. 30 runs smooth, as do the rest of the MP gametypes. This game is a true light in the dark with the many bottom-feeding PS3 multiplayer games.
The singleplayer campaign however, is nothing to write home about. I think if I have to stop one more alien/monster invasion I'm going to go insane. I mean seriously, you would think that word should be out by now. We've whipped enough intergalactic butt that ETs would just stay away.
Also, unlike virtually every other shooter I've played in the post COD4 era, this one has not (yet) made me want to Report for Duty. The online CO-OP is inventive, and just try not to have fun chasing foes around with a hand-held table saw. For you fellow pyros out there, you will squeal with satisfaction as you watch your foes burn!!!
PROS: Diversity in MP weaponry, Good framerate, Bersek ability adds key MP depth
CONS: Campaign lacks innovation, Relatively small online community, no smoke grendades huh?

BOTTOMLINE: Though the campaign lacks innovation, the Multiplayer experience packs more than enough fun to warrant surrendering $60.

Resistance 2 is a game all about numbers. In this quirky but enjoyable PlayStation 3 shooter, you'll take on a 300 foot-tall Leviathan in the single-player campaign, blast countless hordes in the eight-player cooperative mode, and shoot it out with 60 players in online competitive matches. These three modes -- campaign, cooperative, and competitive -- embody the entirety of the Resistance 2 experience, and to see the big picture you'll have to play them all.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Bigger, badder and better than the first, Resistance 2 improves upon the formula set by its predecessor in almost every way. Unfortunately, a handful of minor issues, such as less than stellar graphics, keep this game from reaching the high bar set by competing titles like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2. Still, with its interesting single-player campaign and robust online component, Resistance 2 has plenty to offer any PS3 owner looking for a quick and easy shooter fix.
